There is a story familiar to many of a man name Lehi. Heralded as a prophet at the time, but not in his own country. The Lord in spirited visions and dreams showed Lehi the demise of a great city Jerusalem.
Praying with all his heart for the people he loved, the Lord opened another vision described as a pillar of fire. Because of the things he did both see and hear, "he did quake and tremble exceedingly."
So overcome with the Spirit, Lehi returned to his house to lay down on his bed where he was carried away in another vision where he saw God and many angels singing and praising their God. He saw one that was brighter than the rest, his luster radiated above that of the sun at noon-day.
Lehi saw many things in this marvelous outpouring of spirit. One of which was a book from which he read and received knowledge of the future of his people.
Because of the things he saw and heard and read, despite the perilous outcome of his lineage, "his soul did rejoice, and his whole heart was filled."
(see 1 Nephi 1:6-15, The Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ)
Many mysteries are unfolded in this story from the power of love and prayer to what happens to the physical body when experiences are so great and powerful they cause a might shake to come on.
Further mysteries unfold in what others have described as spiritual classrooms where books of knowledge are kept and can be accessed to learn truth.
And how to recognize truth from deception, there is a key -- unlike some experiences that fill one with importance or power, the experience filled Lehi with rejoicing and his heart was filled because of the things the Lord did show unto him.
